Matthew 15:1-3, 7-20 - Jesus explains about the ceremonial washing of hands. We need to view this passage while thinking of Daniel's experience and also of the counsel to abstain from things strangled and blood.

Proverbs 20:1 - "Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging," those deceived thereby are not wise

Proverbs 23:19-21 - "Be not among winebibbers; among riotous eaters of flesh."

Romans 12:1-3 - "Present your bodies a living sacrifice ...."  There is good reason why doing this is so important.
